The Goddess Diana kicks back while a steady stream of Vespas keeps her entertained. This is one of the four fountains (Le Quattro Fontane) marking the four corners of a busy Roman intersection at the crest of Quirinale Hill, once an important site of ancient Rome.

Very interesting. My father came from Angera and my mother from nearby Cadrezzate. I first went there with my mother when I was 11 years old in 1954 Since then I have made several trips there to visit and stay with various first cousins and aunts/uncles, most recently in 2006.
I have visited the castle of the Boremeos that you mentioned. I did take some photos inside before being asked to leave as no photos are allowed.
I have a first cousin living in Angera and various relatives scattered throughout villages in the region.
Ranco is indeed filled with Brovellis. One legend has it that the name Brovelli designated anyone from the village of Brovello in the Italian Alps. This was, of course, many years ago.
I recently have my DNA tested through the IBM/National Geographic Genographic project. Very interesting results that among many things, showed that there is a DNA link to people in England, Ireland, France and Spain.
Thank you for your beautiful photographs
Ciao
